2003 and The First Big Customer

On the early years of the new Millennium, one of the biggest German companies that provides machines for the steel industry was looking for a way to standardize its projects quality for design, manufacturing and commissioning of its products.

A commission was created to develop studies on how the product lifecycle management was being applied in Germany. After several months of research, the head quarter of the machines for steel industries company ordered a PLM solution to be designed with their own requirements.

The new system development started using a former software platform which it was already being in use on one of the company units as reference. Although quite robust, that software was technologically out of date. Also there was the problem to go global with the concerning of language used in the user interface, which was German.

The IT leader of the steel industry machines manufacturer, who assembled the commission to design the solution, hired the team of the former Alamo Solutions LTDA (which later on became STOR Global) to help design the new software platform. After around one year later, the first version of STOR (at that time named as STOR-B) was launched. The year was 2003 and a Client – Server system designed through Microsoft Visual Basic (which became Microsoft .NET) was put in place to connect 200 users and 900 million dollars on projects and documents data related.

2007 and a Worldwide Implementation

As part of the agreement, the former Alamo Solutions kept the ownership of the new developed technology and, with the expansion and success of the first big implementation on the German steel industry machines manufacturer, another major deal was closed.

The year was 2007 and this time the challenge was to connect 1800 users in 5+ countries to deliver a seamless tube production plant. The overall cost of the project circulated the 3.5 billion dollars on value.

To support the big challenge and to expand even more disciplines of the platform a new version of the technology was brought. The software platform was rewritten using the new Microsoft standard language .Net and now it will be named only as STOR (preview version it was called STOR-B).

Besides Document Management (DMS), Cost Controlling, Material/Services Database, Product Breakdown Structure, the platform now offered Logistics, Material Requirement Planning (MRP), Material to Site Management (MSM) and Warehouse Management (WMS) and became an Asset centric platform.

2013 to the Cloud and Beyond

STOR was also the platform used for the project management and data management of the world’s second largest Niobium plant construction.

For this purpose STOR Global started to deploy STOR platform on cloud using Microsoft Azure technology.

Today the second larger global Niobium plant runs it’s projects and plant management using STOR ALIM with more then 200 professionals connected through the cloud running US$ 400 million in projects.
